Transportation
The only way to reach Ilha Grande is by boat. From Rio de Janeiro, you can take a bus to Angra dos Reis, Conceição de Jacareí, or Mangaratiba. From these towns, several ferry and speedboat services operate to Vila do Abraão, the main village on Ilha Grande. The bus from Rio to Angra dos Reis takes approximately 3 hours. Ferry schedules vary, so it's best to check in advance. Speedboats are faster but more expensive.
