Asam Kumbang Crocodile Farm Guide
Face-to-Face with Reptilian Giants: A Thrilling Encounter at Asam Kumbang Crocodile Farm Guide
Prepare for a unique and thrilling experience at Asam Kumbang Crocodile Farm, one of the largest crocodile farms in Indonesia. Home to thousands of crocodiles of various sizes and species, this farm offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of these ancient reptiles. From tiny hatchlings to massive adults, you'll witness the raw power and prehistoric beauty of these apex predators. It's an unforgettable adventure for animal lovers and thrill-seekers alike. Established in 1959 by Lo Than Muk, Asam Kumbang Crocodile Farm started as a hobby and quickly grew into a major tourist attraction. The farm's success is attributed to the ideal climate and abundant food supply in the area, allowing the crocodile population to thrive. Over the years, the farm has become a center for crocodile breeding and conservation, contributing to the understanding and preservation of these fascinating creatures. While the farm's primary focus is on crocodiles, it also plays a role in educating the public about the importance of wildlife conservation. A visit to Asam Kumbang Crocodile Farm offers a range of activities for tourists. You can walk along the elevated walkways, observing the crocodiles in their enclosures from a safe distance. Witness the feeding frenzy as the crocodiles are fed their daily meals (usually in the afternoon). For the brave, there's an opportunity to hold a baby crocodile (under supervision, of course!). The farm also has a small souvenir shop where you can purchase crocodile-themed merchandise. While the farm doesn't have a specific culinary tradition, you can find local Medan cuisine at nearby restaurants after your visit.
