Callejón del Beso: Seal Your Love in Guanajuato's Most Romantic Alley Guide

Immerse yourself in the romance and legend of the Callejón del Beso, or the Alley of the Kiss, in Guanajuato. This narrow alleyway is famous for its tragic love story and is a must-visit for couples and romantics at heart. The alley is so narrow that the balconies of the two buildings on either side almost touch, creating the perfect setting for a clandestine kiss. Legend has it that couples who kiss on the third step of the alley will have 7 years of good luck. The legend of the Callejón del Beso tells the story of Doña Carmen, a wealthy woman, and Don Luis, a poor miner. Their love was forbidden by Carmen's strict father, who locked her away. Luis rented the house across the alley and the two lovers would meet on their balconies. One night, Carmen's father discovered them and stabbed her to death. Luis, in despair, jumped from the balcony. The alley has since become a symbol of tragic love and a popular spot for couples to visit. The main activity at the Callejón del Beso is, of course, kissing! Couples line up to take their picture on the third step, sealing their love with a kiss. You can also hire a local photographer to capture the moment. The alley is often crowded, especially during peak season, so be prepared to wait your turn. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition associated with the alley itself, Guanajuato offers a variety of delicious food options. Enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the many restaurants in the city center.

Transportation

The Callejón del Beso is located in the historic center of Guanajuato, near the Plaza de los Ángeles. It's easily accessible on foot from most parts of the city center.
