Reach New Heights: Thrills and Views at the Stratosphere Tower Guide

Prepare to be amazed! The Stratosphere Tower, now officially known as The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod, isn't just a hotel; it's an iconic landmark that dominates the Las Vegas skyline. Standing at a staggering 1,149 feet (350 meters), it's the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and offers unparalleled 360-degree views of the dazzling Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding desert landscape. Whether you're a thrill-seeker, a photography enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique perspective on Sin City, the Stratosphere Tower is a must-visit destination. While not steeped in historical significance in the traditional sense, the Stratosphere Tower represents a modern marvel of engineering and a testament to Las Vegas's constant evolution. Construction began in 1993 and the tower officially opened in 1996. It quickly became a symbol of the city's ambition and its relentless pursuit of bigger and better attractions. Over the years, it has undergone several renovations and upgrades, adding new rides, restaurants, and experiences to keep visitors coming back for more. The tower's enduring popularity speaks to its ability to capture the spirit of Las Vegas: a place where anything is possible. The Stratosphere Tower offers a plethora of activities to suit every taste. For the adrenaline junkies, there are four extreme thrill rides perched atop the tower: Big Shot, Insanity, X-Scream, and SkyJump Las Vegas. Big Shot launches you 160 feet into the air at 45 miles per hour, while Insanity dangles you over the edge of the tower and spins you at high speeds. X-Scream is a giant teeter-totter that propels you headfirst over the edge, and SkyJump Las Vegas is a controlled freefall from over 800 feet. If you prefer something a little less heart-stopping, you can enjoy the panoramic views from the observation decks, dine at the Top of the World restaurant (which revolves 360 degrees), or catch a show at the Strat Theater. While the Stratosphere doesn't have a unique culinary tradition tied to its history, the Top of the World restaurant offers a fine dining experience with stunning views, and there are several other casual dining options within the hotel and casino.
